Are my dependants covered?
Dependents eligible for coverage include:
- a member’s legal, common-law, or same-sex spouse
- a member’s children (including disabled children)
- non-resident spouse and children of Canadian employees of a participating university, for an initial period of 12 months while awaiting OHIP approval (extension of coverage is possible if proof is provided that the OHIP application is still pending). The member must have been covered by UHIP and qualified for OHIP. Dependents of an employee who has not been covered by UHIP are not eligible for coverage.
