How do I extend coverage?
You can extend your UHIP protection past the date the protection ends (indicated on the Application Form), if:
- your authorization document has expired and an extension has been requested, as long as you apply before your UHIP coverage ends and provide proof that you applied for an extension of your authorization document, which you can buy in one-month units
- you or a member of your family is hospitalized for non-elective treatment on the date coverage would otherwise end:
- for a maximum of 30 days or until release from hospital - whichever occurs first
- coverage for standard ward accommodation only; no other expenses will be covered
- you do not have to pay for this extension.
- you are authorized to stay in Ontario to graduate or travel, to a maximum of 60 days, which can you buy in one-month units
