What is UHIP?
The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) provides insurance to pay the cost of the hospital and medical services that students or employees and their families at Ontario participating universities and affiliated colleges might need to maintain their health while in Canada.
UHIP is basic health care insurance for non-resident students and employees at participating universities
- all international (non-resident) students must have health care insurance while studying in Ontario.
- international employees working in Ontario who cannot get OHIP
- family members of international employees working in Ontario who are not eligible for OHIP and,
- international employees who can get OHIP after a three-month waiting period
