What is NOT covered?
UHIP does not pay for the following services:
- services not currently provided by OHIP, and those services removed from coverage in the future, as of the date they are removed;
- routine eye examinations for persons between the ages of 20 and 64;
- physicians’ and hospitals’ charges above those rates specified;
- services payable under any other plan, or that would have been provided without charge in the absence of UHIP coverage;
- cosmetic surgery, unless required because of an accident that occurs while the person is covered under UHIP, in which case coverage would be provided to the same levels and under the same conditions as OHIP coverage;
- medical examinations and tests required for immigration purposes or by a third party;
- expenses for travelling time or mileage, or advice given by telephone;
- court testimony, preparation of records, reports, certificates, or communications;
- group examinations, immunizations, or inoculations unless covered by OHIP;
- doctors’ services or examinations for screening, survey, or research purposes, except those covered by OHIP;
- laboratory services or clinical pathology, unless specifically included under "Expenses UHIP pays for";
- acupuncture procedures;
- eyeglasses, frames, or contact lenses;
- private-duty nursing, except under the "Home care"benefit;
- hospital visits solely for administration of drugs;
- drugs, whether prescribed or not (unless administered during a hospital stay), unless specifically included under "Expenses UHIP pays for";
- dental care services, unless specifically included under "Expenses UHIP pays for";
- funeral and burial expenses, in case of the death of a covered person, except those specifically included under "Expenses UHIP pays for";

No typographical or mechanical error made by a university or any of the parties to the UHIP insurance contract will invalidate insurance otherwise in force, or continue insurance otherwise terminated under the insurance policy's terms and conditions.
